Kakapo Lodge
Kakapo Lodge Backpackers, Hanmer Springs is a two-storey, purpose-built backpackers lodge with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
We are located 200m (a 2-minute walk) from the thermal reserve and the village centre.
Enjoy the summer sunshine outside up on the sunny decks or read a good book down in the peaceful garden. Make the most of the evening sun and do all your cooking outside on the BBQ's provided.
Winter is warm at Kakapo Lodge with a Log Fire and Under-Floor Heating as well as extra duvets and blankets on request. On those cold nights cook up a storm in our large Communal Kitchen and Dining Room.
We have a range of DVD's for hire, which can be watched upstairs in the Lounge. Or you can grab a book from our Book Exchange to read during your stay.
Downstairs are the Computer Terminals which offer Internet as well as a place to upload all of your great holiday snaps. WiFi is available throughout the hostel.
Kakapo lodge is a great base for your tramping and moutain biking adventures. Storage is availble at the lodge.

Payment Policy
• Valid credit card details are required to secure all bookings. Your booking will be cancelled automatically if your credit card details are invalid.
• The cost of first night will be charged as deposit once the booking is confirmed, and the balance will be deducted within 48 hours prior to arrival.
Cancellation Policy
• The guest can cancel FREE of charge until 3 days before arrival. Cancellation made after this time may result in the amount of first night’s accommodation being charged to the credit card number held on file.
• Cancellation policy for groups will be advised at the time of booking.
