Experience the wonder of Mount Taranaki and its numerous tracks 30minutes away by shuttle. Walk or cycle along New Plymouth's magnificent Coastal Walkway which begins 120m away from our front door and only 4.5km to Te Rewa Bridge. Surf the waves or sit back, relax and watch the ocean from our balcony. Enjoy dining at one of the many restaurants, cafes or bars within 100m.
At Backpacker prices and Qualmark 4 Stars, Ariki Backpackers has a range of dorms, private rooms, family room, girls only dorm and the famous Queen Anne Room for that special night! Our hostel sleeps up to 38 and is ideal for sports teams, reunions, singles or groups of all ages.
Check in from 2pm untill 9pm.
We are situated above a restaurant/bar & Night club. These are licensed until 3am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and are very noisy

We have some bikes that guests are most welcome to borrow to cycle the walkway and visit the beach!

We have divided this room into two rooms - The front room sleeps 4 (two sets of bunks) and the back room sleeps 4 (two sets of bunks). The back room has its own key. Both rooms have a shower each. These rooms can be booked altogether, as separate rooms or as individual beds. All linen, duvets and towels are included in the bed price. We supply tea and coffee in the shared kitchen.
