Elephant Backpacker is located super close to the heart of the CBD overlooking beautiful Hyde and Domain Park. It's a 5 minutes to the city center and a short walk to Sydney's hidden treasures including Darling Harbour and Royal Botanic Gardens.

The hostel has a variety of rooms over three accommodation levels with the ground floor containing our communal kitchen, dining area, TV area and laundry. We offer free breakfast from 7am to 10am daily in our cafe.

The hostel caters for bona fide travellers. An international passport or photo id must be presented at check-in by all guests.

Reception is open 24/7 for your convenience. We try to keep prices low with a friendly atmosphere.

Double or Twin Book

Our double/twin room consists of a private room containing a tribunk. A tribunk has a double bed mattress on the bottom of the bunk and a single mattress on the top bunk. Therefore this room can be used for either a couple or twin accommodation. The room also contains a locker. Bathroom facilities, toilet and showers, are shared and are located at the end of the corridor.

All our private rooms are located on the 3rd floor on the Crown Street side of the building. It is very quiet and the floor has lift access.

Our 4 bed dorms are spacious as our hostel was originally built in 1892 as a hotel and each room is large compared to many modern built hostels. Some of our rooms still have the original fire place and mantel in the room.

4 Bed Mixed Dorm Book

Our 4 bed dorms consist of two bunks. Each of our rooms have a double hung window and lockers. Each bunk is made up by our housekeepers with a mattress protector and sheet. Blankets are also available from reception for no extra charge.

6 Bed Female Dorm Book

Our 6 bed female dorms have 3 bunk beds. Each room has a swipe key card or uses keys therefore you are safe and secure.

Female toilets and female showers are located on each floor. Our toilets are enclosed cubicles and our showers are for females only.

Our 6 bed mixed dorm consists of 3 bunk beds in a generous sized room.

These dorm rooms are very popular as they are not as crowded as an 8 bed dorm but obviously not as expensive a 4 bed dorm.

8 bed dorms consist of 4 bunks in our very large dorm rooms. Each 8 bed dorm has a window which can be opened to let in plenty of fresh air. So if you want to lower the cost of your travel and are social - this style of room is for you.

Shared bathrooms and toilets are located on every floor.

Terms & Conditions

When you book via our website you are required to pay for the full cost of your accommodation upfront.

A $20 refundable deposit must be paid by all guests upon check in.

The hostel is for bona fide travelers. An international passport or photo id must be presented at check in for all guests.

DORM ROOMS
When you book 2 or more dorm beds, we cannot guarantee that your entire group can be in the same dorm room. Please book private room(s) if you wish to secure that everyone in your group is going to be in the same room.

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION POLICY

One nights stay per person will be charged if you cancel with less than 24 hrs notice or do not arrive on the day that you booked.
Conditions relating to New Year bookings are different and detailed below.

For New Years we operate a 3 night minimum stay. Guests can check in on or before the 30th of December. Check out is on or after the 2nd of January. There are no arrivals or departures processed on the 31st December or 1st of January.

There are no cancellations with in 7 Nights of the 30th of December.
